BRAVO!  BRAVO!  BRAVO!

My wife, Laurel Lutes(nee: St. Pierre), and myself attended the recently held 100th. Anniversary Celebration held in Zenon Park.  To all involved in the organization of this event all I can say is BRAVO!  BRAVO!

What a wonderful event.  We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects and attended as many attractions as possible.  I know that it took many volunteers who spent countless hours of their time to put together such a wonderful celebration.  To them I say THANK YOU!!   It truly was a CELEBRATION!!  My wife has been on cloud '9' from the time we arrived in Zenon Park until our return home to St. Albert, AB.  She couldn't wait to tell the rest of her family and friends all aspects of this event.  It blows my mind how a small community of approx. 230 residents can put on such an event.  As mentioned above,  BRAVO!!   In speaking to several attendees we did NOT hear one negative criticism - nothing but praise!

HATS OFF TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!!

Please pass on my heart felt thanks to all involved.

Thank you again!

Rob & Laurel Lutes

St. Albert, AB

(We can only hope and pray to be around for the 125th. celebration)

Emile (Firday) & Nettie Vaillancourt
Fernand (Vern) and I wish to thank the Zenon Park Centennial committee for their many long hours of dedication to this wonderful event. We enjoyed it so much. Church, choir, Bishop, parade, arena events and the food was wonderful. We enjoyed meeting so many friends old and new. Old Prince George people. The Silo of Memories was very well done and when the Church bells rang, goose bumps, for sure.
God Bless you all,
Fernand (Vern) & Sharon Vaillancourt Penticton, BC.
Thank you to all who laboured in organizing this wonderful event.  It was impressive to see so many former Zenon Park residents come together.  The Centennial Committee can be very proud of their accomplishment.  I did not realize that ZP had so many talented individuals, i.e. Rupert Leblanc and Yvette Brisebois and so many more.

A great time was had by all,

Louise Fortier

Wow what a party!  To each and every one of you, thank you so much, because of all your hard work, the weekend was unforgettable.  We had a ‘Great’ time.

Congratulations and a job well done!  I left Z.P. so proud to have grown up in that village and to know that our experiences as children, youth and adults were continuing with resilience, devotion, pride and true troopers.  C’est épatant de voir de joie d’histoire et de fun.  Je ne l’oublierais pas!  J’ai joui de faire connaissance avec tant d’amis, ages et jeunes.  Merci, grand merci!  You made it happen.  Give yourselves a big tap on the back!

Laurette Wasylyk (Vigeant)

Thank you for all you’ve done, for a great weekend!  This is a ‘big thank you’ to the Zenon Park Centennial committee for just a super weekend. You guys sure know how to put on a great celebration.  Alot of work went into it.

Marie-Ange Rancourt

Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend celebrating 100 years as a prairie historical community.  Your efforts are commended.  You did a great job!

We enjoyed meeting all the people who crossed our paths and tremendously enjoyed renewed acquaintances from school 51 years ago.

As you enter into the second 100 years, may you trust in the Lord with all your hearts and lean not un your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will diret your paths.  Remember that all scripture is God-breathed and is usefulf for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that every man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.  Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, no ones comes unto the Father, but by Him.

Our love and prayers are extended to all in the name of Jesus Christ.

Richard and Gloria Ouellette

My wife and I had the privilege of attending the great weekend put on by the Village of Zenon Park to celebrate their 100th anniversary for the village and church parish

After living in ZP for 17 years and working hard for other homecomings and provincial events, it was nice to be able to come home and just enjoy myself.

So hats off to Zenon Park Community Partners, the Zenon Park Church Council and to all those citizens of Zenon Park who worked long hours serving us, to ensure we had a great time. Job well done.

Allan Georget

To all of you who put so much time and effort in organizing this 100th anniversary celebration, thank you!  It was a class act.  The Sunday night event at the elevator was a little disappointing... certainly not what we expected.  But other than that I wouldn’t have changed a thing.  You did an awesome job!  Thank you, Merci.

Hats Off!

To everyone who worked so hard to get the village and surrounding areas prepared for a great weekend.  Everything was so well organized and fortunately the weather cooperated to add to the excitement surrounding the weekend.  It was great to see so many old friends and family and reminded us all of the true spirit of the community of Zenon Park.  The entertainment was excellent, including the live stage during the afternoons.  Congrats to all who performed, you were all awesome.  The Silo of Memories show, on Sunday, was an event that anyone from Zenon Park could appreciate and I will certainly not forget that performance for a very long time.  Congratulations to those who worked so hard to prepare the performance.

Standing “O” for an unforgettable weekend.

Dear residents of Zenon Park,

Our plans to attend the Centennial in Zenon Park had been planned long ago and we were delighted with the welcome we experienced. The organization involved for a little village this small to welcome so many people offers a challenge greater than one can possibly imagine. Fortunately, the weather cooperated.

My husband, Andre Courteau, was the youngest child born to Raymond and Helene Courteau when his mother was 49 and his father 55. Although I do not come from Zenon Park, I have a deep attachment to this place. We spent many days at times with Raymond and Helene when we came to visit.

Phyllis Dahl who owns their house today, allowed us to visit the residence. What a pleasure to see that the house has retained its original character. Our memories were bombarded with the many souvenirs that resurfaced.

The historic play told the dedication and determination of our pioneers. All the family was thrilled to see Ron Wassill proudly playing the role of Raymond Courteau. Aside from Andre (69 years old), this play was appreciated by Jean (90 years old) and Therese Fortier (86 years old).

The show on Sunday evening was exceptional. We could have spent the entire night at this presentation conceived by professionals. The music was inspiring and the projections as well. I was amazed at the variety of photos of the past and of the present as they were projected on the elevator, but when I saw Raymond Courteau, already aged, who was telling something, I shed a tear of tenderness for him.

We visited the graveyard which is so well kept and respectful for those resting there.

Andre and I would like to thank you for organizing this lovely celebration. We shall never forget our Zenon Park roots.

To all the organizers and the whole community of Zenon Park.  A heartfelt thank you for putting on such a fabulous Centennial celebration.  What a spirit this village has!  It makes me proud to come from and be part of this community!  Em lisant le livre (Histoire) on s’aperçoit de tous les success et beaucoup de talents des gens de Z.P.  Je veux mentioner la messe; quelle belle celebration!  Felicitations and hope this spirit lasts forever.

Aline Gavel (Sirois)

We would like to thank you all very much for the Centennial, you put on.  For just a few people in a village it was unreal.  The parade was wonderful, the entertainment was aka wonderful.  The meals were very good.  Just seeing all the people that came back home.  It was just wonderful, so well organized, people having a good time.  We were sure happy we didn’t miss it.  You should be very proud of yourselves.  Words cannot express what you all have done, what a party!

Gordon & Bernice Barnett

A small village with a tremendous heart were able to accomplish a celebration of our past and current community over the past 100 years with absolute success. Sandi & I are forever thankful for the committee members and volunteers who gave their time not only for the three days but for the years of planning. It was truly a community gathering of all ages.

Our sincerest thank you for a wonderful weekend.

SILO À SOUVENIRS / SILO OF MEMORIES

LETTER OF THANKS

On behalf of myself and the Silo à souvenirs / Silo of memories collective, I wish to thank the Zenon Park centennial committee for its support in the organising of its multidisciplinary performance.  The committee’s 1500.00$ allocation helped cover a part of the production costs for this innovative performance presented on August 1st during Zenon Park’s centennial celebrations.

The Silo à souvenirs project brought together Zenon Park artists Michel Marchildon, Véronique Poulin, Renée Sigouin and Zoé Fortier as well as Saskatoon artists Jean-Sébastien Gauthier and Stephan Fuchs. The team based their performance on the rich francophone culture and history of Zenon Park, worked tirelessly for several months to create and produce this particular mixture of music, story-telling, song, modern dance, spoken word and unforgettable video projections on the town’s last remaining grain elevator.  The artists were touched by the public’s heart-warming response to the content of the performance, the memory of which will not soon be forgotten.

Now that the dust is settling, the team is now in a period of reflexion which includes thanks to all those who helped the project come to life. We would appreciate if you could publish our list of thanx on the town’s website. We particularly wish to thank the ZP Centennial committee for it’s support, support which was acknowledged in all of the Silo promotional material as well as the performance closing and video sequence credits.

In closing, we wish to remind the committee as well as all Zenon Park residents that Radio-Canada (Regina) has produced a half-hour ‘behind the scenes’ special recapping the highlights of the Silo à souvenirs project. The program will be pre-viewed on November 13th & 14th during the Rendez-Vous Fransaskois in Saskatoon. The program is scheduled to air sometime this autumn. We will keep you posted.

Sincerely
